Welcome to the Department of Human Physiology, one of the three departments domiciled in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. Physiology deals with the mechanisms and functions of how cells, tissues and organs work and adjust in health, diseases and different environments. Understanding important physiological principles are vital to health and medical sciences from cellular to the molecular levels.
Mission
The mission of the Department of Human Physiology is to provide an outstanding educational experience that prepares students for careers in the biomedical research, medical and allied health sciences, pharmaceutical industries, sports, aviation and space physiology through excellence in teaching and research that addresses important issues in our immediate community and beyond.
Objectives
1. To promote high standard of scientific teaching and research in physiological sciences
2. To maximize the impact of our teaching and research through scholarly publications, exchange of scientific ideas, collaboration and public outreach.
3. To imbibe the principles of openness, hard work, self-sacrifice teamwork and high ethical standards.
4. To foster unity through the respect of individual differences and needs, of both staff and students.
Vision
The vision of the department is to be foremost in teaching and research by training students in theoretical, practical, and applied physiology to make such graduates suitable for problem solving and decision making in various areas of applied sciences.

Mr Ahmad Muhammad is a versatile and accomplished individual from Nigeria, currently residing in Mokwa, Niger state. He is proficient in written and spoken English. He has demonstrated skills in social entrepreneurship and event management—his interests Span neuroscience, creative writing, cooking, and producing science fiction movies.
